GIRO - South
We will see the Giro Live twice during our trip, getting in a good mix of local Italian flavor and scenery, race viewing and some great riding. During this trip we will visit 3 separate locations, taking in some awesome coastal views, spectacular roman ruins and plenty of riding, food and drink. With all our time spent down south, the odds of getting good weather are an undeniable little extra.
David McKenzie lived in Italy both during his Pro cycling career and after. He will be proud to be your guide and share his love of the Giro, scene of his biggest career win in 2000.
DAVID MCKENZIE
David McKenzie was a professional cyclist for 9 years. He won a stage of the 2000 Giro d’Italia and is a former Australian National Road Champion. Since retiring at the end of 2005 he has worked as an expert analyst and commentator for Australian TV Broadcaster SBS, whilst also working as a cycling coach back home in Australia.
David traveled extensively during his Pro cycling career on various teams from Europe to Asia via the USA, but started his career based in Italy, and returned to live there for 2 years after his retirement. He's very familiar with Italy and has a soft spot for the Giro with arguably the biggest win of career coming on Italian soil. We have managed to pull him away from the TV cameras for this trip, so that you can benefit from his experience firsthand. Better still, David is a very easy going person who loves a good local meal and drink, he is also a great story teller. Needless to say the evenings can be fascinating and quite humorous.
